Our home is a new, very comfortable and spacious one just outside Geneva, Switzerland. It has four bedrooms, a sofa sleeper in the basement TV room and two offices. In the basement there is a large cozy TV room/den as well as a bedroom, separate bathroom/shower and laundry room. The TV room includes a videocassette player, a DVD player and is connected to cable TV. The kitchen, very generous living/dining room, visitors toilet and a small office are on the ground floor. On the top floor are three bedrooms, a small balcony, one office and two bathrooms (one with bath/shower and the other with shower) . The kitchen is very modern and includes a full range of appliances (dishwasher, induction stove top, oven, microwave) , a counter top with stools and a steam oven for steaming vegetables, fish, etc. Both offices have computers linked via ADSL to the internet. The house is literally a two minute walk from the lake.

This is one of four townhomes built next to each other. They are very large (each of the three levels is approximately 100 sq. meters) . The neighborhood contains a mix of Swiss and non-Swiss people. The neighbors all speak English. The family on one side is a Swiss-American man married to a French woman who have two small boys. The family on the other side is a French man married to a Spanish woman with grade school twins. The last family is a Cuban woman and her mother. All the neighbors are very friendly and will be glad to give you directions and help you out. We are next to the center of the small village of Bellevue where you can find a post office, small grocery store, bakery, convenience store, a small American university (Webster) , several restaurants and a few intimate hotels. There are some nice walks through woods and wooded lanes nearby and the lake is only about 250 meters from our home. There are marked bike paths along the main lake road to Geneva.

We could certainly arrange for the exchange of our Honda CR-V for your car.

The train station is about an 8 minute walk, and the trains run every 30 minutes to Geneva central station. The train ride is only about 8-10 minutes. Buses run from near the train station to Geneva as well.

My wife and I both enjoy a cigarette or two after dinner (literally) , so having light smokers would not be a problem for us. If you have a smoke free home we would happily respect that by smoking outside.

We have a Thai housekeeper who would normally be present in the house while you are there. You could make an arrangement with her for laundry, cooking, etc. She is a great Thai cook.

I have just retired from the United Nations in Geneva. My wife has a Ph.D. from Oxford in Art History and writes books as well as teaching at university level. Our daughter and son love Switzerland and the USA and tend to split their time between San Francisco and Geneva. We have lived outside of the USA since before the kids were born and we love to travel.
