Our home is an impressive renovated very spacious and bright 3,500 sq feet three storey Victorian red brick in the much sought after Dartry area.

The top floor level has four double bedrooms, one ensuite, and two bathrooms. The first floor contains two formal interconnecting reception rooms with Waterford crystal chandeliers and antique furniture. There is also a library/office.

At ground floor level is a well equipped Siematic kitchen with Aga range, electric oven and hob with a table that seats 10 with double doors opening onto garden. Another set of double doors opens to family room/sitting room. There is a fully equipped utility together with a fourth bathroom.

There is a large amount of modern Irish and International art throughout the house.

Our large rear garden is southwest facing and gets sun all day so we eat outside a lot when the weather permits. We have a gas BBQ and a table to seat 8/10 for Summer dining.

Plenty of books for children, teenagers and adults. DVD'S and films for kids-teenagers. Xbox and games including pool table and table tennis. High speed wireless internet access.

For the Dublin experience or as a base to explore Ireland you won't do better.

Dartry is a beautiful, friendly and safe old residential redbrick area in upmarket Dublin 6 with tree-lined roads and parks. Close to the river Dodder, we are 7 minutes walk from the village of Rathgar and two miles from the city centre. The villages of Rathmines and Ranelagh are also nearby. All the facilities one could wish for are within a short walk including restaurants, gourmet shops, parks, riverside walks and friendly pubs. We are very well served with excellent home deliveries to suit every taste.

The city centre is easily and quickly accessed by car or public transport. Bus stops for two different routes are 3/4 minutes from the house. 7 minutes walk will take you to the LUAS (Rapid rail) station where there are trams every few minutes - 8 minutes to the city centre or 5 minutes to Dundrum Shopping Centre, award-winning and one of the largest in Europe, with fashion, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, theatre. There is a new gym/swimming pool opened lately within 10 min walk. You can pay as you go.

In the city centre almost everything is within walking distance. Pick from Trinity College, St. Stephens Green, Georgian parks, Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, Ha'penny Bridge, GPO, Dublin Spire, Customs House, The Four Courts and many more. Most museums and galleries have free entry and during the Summer many cultural events are free. Dublin is also famous for its bars, many with literary associations, and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants & interesting shopping.

Walking and bus tours are available and will take you to attractions such as the Guinness Storehouse, the Phoenix Park, the largest enclosed urban park in Europe, 3 km from the city centre, where you will find Europe's oldest zoo and Farmleigh House, the Taoiseach's (prime minister) official residence, once belonging to the Guinness family.
All of these are also accessible by car - 20 to 25 minutes from our home.

Within 20-30 minutes you can be in the Dublin or Wicklow mountains or at the sea. There are plenty of options for sailing, fishing, country pursuits and golf. Ireland is famous for its golf course. The nearest is 8 minutes walk and some of the best courses in the world are within an hour's drive.

Also within an hour's drive are the National Aquatic Centre (www.nac.ie), Powerscourt Waterfall, set in a beautiful old wooded estate with a fantastic playground for children and the old monastic site at Glendalough (literally the glen of the two lakes) with its Round Tower and breathtaking scenery.

Prehistoric Newgrange, Knowth and the Hill of Tara are all about an hour and a half away.

For the sports minded a visit to Croke Park, one of the largest stadia in Europe, to see one of the uniquely Irish games of hurling or Gaelic Football is a real treat. Croke Park also hosts concerts and music festivals as do other venues in and around Dublin. All are easily accessed from our house.

We have a dog, Lucy, who we can have minded elsewhere if required. A cleaner can be provided. A gardner comes to look after the garden

We are a four person family, living here 17 years. Tom is a lawyer and Elizabeth, a banker, while Tomas (18) and Hubert (16) attend local schools. Our interests include reading, sport, cooking, travel and history.
